Welcome to the start of your journey. Arrive at Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station. DAY 2 / 8 Phuentsholing Thimphu

Journey to the Capital

After completing immigration formalities, we begin our ascent to Thimphu — Bhutan’s serene mountain capital. The road winds through stunning valleys and pine forests.

In the evening, visit the towering Buddha Dordenma — a massive golden statue symbolising peace and prosperity, overlooking the entire valley. Free time to explore Thimphu’s charming streets at leisure.

Note: Travellers arriving directly at Paro Airport will be picked up and transferred to Thimphu to join the group.

Dochula Pass & Palace of Happiness

We drive to Punakha via the breathtaking Dochula Pass (3,100m), adorned with 108 memorial stupas. On a clear day, the snow-capped Himalayas stretch across the horizon.

Later, we visit the majestic Punakha Dzong — the “Palace of Great Happiness” — situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers.

The evening includes a walk across the famous Punakha Suspension Bridge with serene sunset views, followed by a riverside picnic. (Optional: River rafting)

After breakfast, we drive to the picturesque valley of Paro. Visit Kyichu Lhakhang — one of Bhutan’s oldest and holiest temples, built in the 7th century.

In the evening, unwind at the resort with a bonfire, music, and games specially curated for the group.

Tiger’s Nest, Farmhouse & Masks

The highlight of the journey.

Optional: Visit the midpoint of Tiger’s Nest Monastery — hike for approximately 3 hours or take a pony ride for 1.5 hours to reach the viewpoint. For those who prefer a relaxed morning, we visit the historic Rinpung Dzong instead.

After lunch, visit a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse to experience local cuisine with unlimited butter tea and wine. Try your hand at archery — Bhutan’s national sport — and enjoy a traditional hot stone bath.

The day concludes with a mesmerising mask dance performance and live music.

Is Bhutan physically demanding?
Most of the journey is comfortable with private coach transfers. Walking is moderate at sightseeing spots. The Tiger’s Nest hike is optional — a pony ride alternative is available, or you can skip it entirely and visit Rinpung Dzong instead.
What’s the weather like?
Bhutan enjoys pleasant weather across seasons — spring brings blooming valleys, summer is lush and green, and autumn offers crystal-clear mountain views. Temperatures range from 15–25°C in most months. Your travel advisor can recommend the best month for your preferences.
Can I fly directly to Paro instead of driving?
Yes. For ₹23,500 extra, you can fly directly to Paro and skip the road journey. Ask us for details.
What if I need to cancel?
